In the divisiveness and the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual violence in our world, we struggle with love and forgiveness. Jesus instructed his disciples then and now to forgive those who hurt us. When we pray The Lord’s Prayer we pray, “Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.” Peter hears that he is to forgive seventy times seven. As followers of Christ, we are invited, called, nudged, urged, and sometimes even pushed kicking and screaming to forgive from the heart. In Luke 23: 34, Jesus embodied forgiveness on the cross in his prayer “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they’re doing.” Forgiveness like a flowing stream flowed down from the cross for those who were crucifying him and for all of us.
Come Sunday and walk with us on the journey of living forgiven and forgiving others as followers of Christ,
