What is glory? When do we see or experience glory? Is it possible to live glory?
Glory is an important word in the experiences of people with God in the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Hebrew word kabod means weight or importance that is magnified. We experience glory and can give glory to others and to God. God revealed God’s glory at the giving of the tablets of stone with the ten commandments as well as upon Jesus at his baptism, transfiguration, and ascension. Of course, the shepherds in the fields on the night of Jesus’ birth saw the glory of the angels and heard the angels sing “Glory”. In their experiences of God’s glory, they were filled with joy.
The Christmas carol Silent Night has the phrase, “Glories stream from heaven afar …”. Sounds like the bright in calm and bright. I’m wondering about where glories are streaming now in my life, in our church, and in our world. Where is it happening? What does it look like?
Come and be with us Sunday to explore glory, experience glory, and even glorify God.
