In Luke 9, Jesus heads up the mountain to pray. He asks Peter, James, and John to go with him. There he is surrounded by light, his clothes become dazzling, and he is joined by Moses and Elijah. A voice from heaven says, “This is my Son, my chosen one. Listen to him!” This is a Spirit-filled God moment. The three disciples definitely experience God’s presence in a way that touches and transfigures their own lives. They will not forget it. They will not be the same. They will add this memory to all of their other experiences of seeing God in Jesus.
What are some of your experiences of God’s grace? When was the last time you were touched by God’s grace in a powerful, life-changing way? Come and be with us Sunday as we worship together our life-transfiguring God in Jesus the Christ on Transfiguration Sunday.
