Worship Leader/Keyboardist

Who we are: Trinity United Methodist Church of Duncanville, Texas is a progressive and
inclusive small suburban church committed to excellence in hybrid ministry and to
providing a quality worship experience, whether in-person or online

Part-time: Sunday mornings with worship preparation during the week;
availability for occasional special services; approximately 5-6 hours per week;

Salary: $8000/year

Responsibilities:
With the pastor lead and design the overall music and worship ministry of the church
Play piano during worship – hymns, musician accompanist, offertory, special music
Co-lead with pastor in both musical and spoken portions of worship services
Lead congregational singing
Serve regularly as liturgist and scripture reader
Introduce and teach new music to the congregation
Recruit and coordinate with musical guests
Participate with pastor and Communications Coordinator in a comprehensive
social media/online presence
Keep church’s musical instruments in good working condition
Assist in arranging music for funerals, memorial services, weddings as needed
Arrange for a qualified substitute when ill or on vacation
Meet and communicate regularly with pastor

Qualifications:
A person of authentic Christian faith and emotional maturity who practices honesty and
integrity in all circumstances.
Understanding and appreciation that music and worship is a ministry the worship
leader conducts in concert with the pastor, the congregation, and the larger
community (both in-person and online); that music and worship is a
conduit of Christian discipleship, spiritual care and nurture, and
evangelistic/community outreach.
Demonstrable musical abilities, especially keyboard, and familiarity with a broad range
of Christian music and hymnody, both traditional and contemporary.

Ability to sight read music
Passion and enthusiasm for leading the congregation in musical and spoken worship
Appreciation for progressive Methodist/Wesleyan theology
Responsible, dependable, self-motivated, creative, sense of humor

Preferences:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in musical field
Experience as church music director and/or musician
Strong vocalist
Familiarity with the liturgical seasons
Proficiency in organ, guitar, and/or other musical instruments a plus
United Methodist background
Proficiency in Spanish
Possible opportunities for occasional preaching and expanded ministry responsibilities
