Through 5th Grade
Children’s Classes and Activities at Trinity:
Children’s Sunday School begins at 9:30 every Sunday morning. We have one classroom for children through 5th grade, and teachers for this group include Mo Tanner, Tommie Rains, and Linda Kaiser. Sixth-grade students are combined with the Youth Group Sunday School, which includes 7th through 12th grade students. The 6th – 12th grade class is taught by our Youth Director, Katie Nelson.
We also offer Confirmation Class, which prepares children in grades 5th through 7th for full membership in the church, every 2 or 3 years depending on the number of eligible children. Confirmation Class explores central Christian beliefs and practices, with a United Methodist understanding of growing in faith in Christ and serving others in the world. It is led by Mo Tanner with assistance from Evelyn Tanner and our pastor, Debbie Riggsby. The most recent class was held in 2013.
Annual children’s events are advertised and open to all in the community:
Vacation Bible School is usually held on two consecutive Saturdays in June or July from 9:00 a.m. to about 2:00 p.m. We use United Methodist VBS materials. Each session normally includes an opening assembly with a video, music, and puppet show; Bible Stories presented by a Storyteller or drama; rotations through music; science and craft stations related to the Bible story; and a light lunch. Online registration is usually available beginning in April and early registration is encouraged to allow better planning for the number of children attending. However, late registration is always available at the church on VBS mornings.
Trunk-or-Treat is held on Halloween evening from about 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the church parking lot. This community outreach provides a safe place for children to trick-or-treat for candy, as well as a place for all of us in the community to have fun together. We enjoy decorated car trunks, live music, a bounce house, storyteller, children’s movie, games, hot dogs, popcorn, snow cones, and a cake walk. And it’s all FREE to the community!
Easter Egg Hunts are held each year on Easter Sunday around noon; after the 11:00 a.m. English-speaking service and before the 1:00 p.m. Spanish-speaking service begins. There are separate areas for younger and older children to “hunt” for candy-filled Easter eggs.
Children’s Christmas Programs are held annually on a designated Sunday in December, between the 11:00 a.m. English-speaking service and the 1:00 p.m. Spanish-speaking service. The program includes a small gift for each child and a blessing of their Christmas toys.
